I guess I was hoping he would join me, but his sense of modesty (or str8ness) held him back.

We headed out to the deserted beach and there was a local fisherman -- who probably would not have minded my nudity but my new friend's reluctance and sort of bashfulness

Eventually, I told him I wanted my tan to be ALL over and asked him if he minded if I got naked since this was what I usually did when I went to this beach (nude sunbathing on Oahu is not legal, but you can do so if you are discreet - -actually that's true of about anywhere on the planet). Innocent Exhibitionism -- Cross-cultural male camaraderie in Japan

While living in Japan, I found it kind of amazing that the otherwise polite and docile Japanese could be so rowdy and getso raunchy in the right circumstances. Most of these centered around group events where drinking was involved. I guess it happens everywhere with young people -- like ay college parties and fraternities, etc. But still is a bit of a paradox when the seemingly shy Japanese get plastered (or maybe that's just an excuse or front) and start stripping and performing what Puritanical Americans would think of as "lewd" acts. 


While Japanese are modest about nudity in general -- there are times when you can catch a glimpse of guys showing pubic hair or asses -- and sometimes a cock. I used to go cycling along some of the rivers around Tokyo. The city uses the flood banks for public sports fields or you can also see similar activities in public parks too. When stopping for a break, I could often get glimpes of guying changing clothes in broad daylight - I mean from street clothes -- stripping down to nothing or fleeting glimpse of ass and cock, and change into their team uniform or sports clothes right there in front of everyone -- especially when they were surrounded by the hunky teammates. Teams of intramural sports -- soccer, rugby, American football, baseball play on these fields usually during the weekends and holidays. Invariably, because there are no dressing rooms, the guys have to strip and change out of and back into their street clothes.This kind of CMNM scene has always been a turn-on -- it is like seeing one naked guys in a locker room full of clothed athletes, but it is out in public -- an open field.

It's kind of cool to see this kind of "innocent" exhibitionism among team members. But there is another type of flashing among Japanese men that seems to happen a lot but is not really so innocent -- maybe not really sexual or sensual -- but more like playful machismo, I guess, but it is still a turn on.

I never got invited to participate to such a degree but I have been in the room -- usually at a overnight retreat at an inn or hot springs resort where similar male stripping occurs. Without fail, some of the guys get (supposedly) too drunk to stop themselves, and end up pulling all kinds of stunts. They seem to start out as party games and end up with somebody getting undressed -- sort of voluntary (or sometimes forced) flashing for the rest of the group. 

I never got any photos -- but I found these photos on the net by a group of Japanese college students . They seem pretty typical for the kind of drunken playfulness that leads to somebody getting pantsied or just flashing the group. I used a Japanese language search engine and found these.

Japanese sometimes call this "skinship."

What is so cool about it?  Has anybody else experienced this kind of male-male "bonding" rituals between straight guys or in mixed gender groups -- in North America, Asian or Europe.?   I don't have a fetish about it , but think it is kind of cool. While these guys are sort of playing around with "sexy" homoeerotic behaviors -- maybe even identifying a bit with the homoerotic nature of what they doing -- it seems to me a kind of healthy way to de-sexualize nudity between men. Yes, there are some women at the party too -- although none of them usually get nude or show much if anything at all.

Do I ever piss in a place besides the toilet?

There is a discussion going on in the Dudesnude 'Hot Chat' Forum about this topic. It's not like I am really into watersports (urinating or pissing on myself or other guys) although I realize a quite a few gay and straight men are, and a lot of women, too. However, the bodily functions of urination and defecation are part of the process of living, so they generally are a habitual concern (or should I say - matter of ritual) for everyone on the planet.

So, the specific question, Do I ever piss in a place besides the toilet?, has connotations that are actually much bigger and wider than the guy who asked had thought about. So it made be think about a lot of another ideas connected with the toilet.

My Answer: Actually, I usually take a piss in any shower that I use. At home, at the gym, at the pool, hotel or campsite. Let me explore a longer answer, and try to explain.I guess it's the sound of running water that makes me want to urinate. If it's a communal shower (they seem to be fewer and fewer these days), then I tried to piss within the main shower stream so that guys would notice. In public baths and hot springs resorts, people are often seated when they both wash up and shampoo their hair AND when they are showering. They clean themselves thoroughly before getting into the bath tub or hot mineral water spa pool. So it's easier to conceal your pissing when you're seated; although I actually find it a bit harder to piss than when standing up.

I've never pissed it directly on a person.. though now that you mention the idea, I realize it could be a lot of fun - especially if he likes it or another buddy or bystander in the shower gets a kick out of seeing that. To be honest, I have to say that I have pissed in a sink before, and often do so in my own office (there's not toilet just a small sink). Why? I guess I wait to long before going to take a piss sometimes.

In countries (like where I am now), the 'toilet' in public restrooms (sometimes that serve for both males and females). Many have two sections: the first compartment is only large enough for a sink/mirror, and the inner one is where the commode is. Asian people are smaller and less particular about shared use of a toilet - unlike North America where there is a strict separation of the genders for toilet purposes. Anyway, when you enter the first space (dying to pee), there may be someone in the inner door (pissing or taking a dump) and you'll have to wait - unless, of course, you piss in the sink. So yep, I am guilty of doing that. I always run the water so the person inside can't hear me spraying the sink with a stream of piss, and I always 'flush' the sink out with water so that's there no yellow piss remaining.

I'd be easily identified if I were to leave a sink full of piss for the next person who enters the restroom. So I have never been tempted to try that prank.Anyone else have stories to tell about pissing in public or in a communal shower or communal restroom?

Palm Springs: A great gay weekend trip or a week's vacation

CCBC (Cathedral City Boys Club) has a nice pool and jacuzzi area, and also it's own brand of sex zone, and the infamous walk. There is a day pass rate for pool only guests.
But it depends on who is there and day and time. If there's some gay event going on in PS on the weekend, then it's likely to be busy and have lots of naked men in and out of the pool.

Outside the city, there are some nice hiking areas, but I've only been led there and can't recall how to get there myself.
Use the Net to find more general info on the 29 Palms area or the Joshua Tree National Monument (I think it's about 1 hour's drive or less from PS.) Of course, there's the famous gondola up the mountain just northwest of the city.

If you have more time, I recommend driving over to see the Salton Sea (I'm not sure you can swim in it since it always seems to have dead fish and smells like brine.) But there is a State park on the eastern side for the Sea. If you head back eastward from the Salton Sea (State Hwy 22) you can also visit the Anza-Borrego State Park, the largest state park in CA (and one of the largest in the US (other than national parks). It has some great hiking spot not far from Borrego Springs), and should still be plenty warm to do them naked - if you feel brave enough. (I have done so -- for at least a few miles).

Heading further east toward San Diego is Julian, a little country-style alpine town, complete with antique shops, restaurants and sort of a cowboy (hickville) atmosphere. There is Cuyamaca State Park further inland, heading towards San Deigo.

(The last few recommended spots may be completely out of your travel plan - distance wise). So do your homework ... a bit more.

	Follow up: steelearc 01 Nov 2011, 01:04 The hot/new place in town is LuLu, at South Palm Canyon and Arenas (one block over from PS's little "gay strip"). Good food, cute waiters, fun ambiance. Koffi is always busy, both "old" Koffi (N. Palm Canyon, just north of Alejo; hang out in back by the lawn) or "new" Koffi, on E. Palm Canyon, across from the old Biltmore. Toucan's is consistently voted one of PS's best dive/tiki bars, although Sunday night is the big event (drag show...it draws hundreds, and a very mixed crowd. Get there at 7:30 for the 8:00 show, or be prepared to wait in a VERY long line). A lot of people also like Trio either for the bar or restaurant, though I think it's overpriced for what you get. The leather scene, such as it is, is focused at the Barracks in Cathedral City, or to a lesser degree, the Toolshed on Sunny Dunes. Not to be missed: Sunday afternoon at Barracks! Basically any time after about 4. Check on Adam4Adam (dot com) if you want to know about sex parties. And ask me which ones are more recommended!
